Giving Thanks...

It is Thanksgiving yet again and I would be very ungrateful if I didn't sit back and think about all the things I am thankful for. There really are too many to count, but Ten Things I am Thankful for right now are:

  1. The noise of my children - yes, it does annoy the ears some days, but it means I can hear and that My children are happy and healthy.
  2. Listening to my husband play video games...it means he's home with us.
  3. Food, lots of good food. I make way to much every year, and I am so grateful we don't have to go without.
  4. Our freezer. So I can store all the leftover feast and enjoy it later.
  5. Friends. Both here and in Canada. Even if we don't 'hang out' as much, its nice to know they are there.
  6. Family. My little immediate family and our extended family. Knowing someone out there loves you and cares about what happens to you.
  7. Technology like computers and the Internet, facebook and blogger. So I can keep in touch with those friends and family. And they can enjoy a little piece of our lives like they were here.
  8. My husbands job. It sometimes drives me crazy when he has to go in extra and on his days off. But he has a job that supports us enough for me to be at home with the kids.
  9. The church. How it is the same everywhere. Heavenly Father's gospel is never changing and will always be a support to me.
  10. The Christmas season. I LOVE Christmas. I love getting ready for it and trying to find ways to show my children haw they can share the Christmas spirit with each other and those around them.
There are so many things to be thankful for. So many blessing that Heavenly Father has given us. I am so thankful for all that I have and have been given. Happy Thanksgiving!

What we've been up to...

Nothing much really...just life in general...so I'll keep this short so as not to bore you ;)
It is almost Thanksgiving and creeping up on my deadline that I gave myself for Christmas shopping. Every year I say I am going to get it done early and every year I am going out the week or days before and rushing...this year I said December 1. And its gonna be close! I think I've got the majority of the shopping done...at least for our family. The stuff for my parents etc. I figured the kids can help, they will like that, and it doesn't matter if they see it. There are a couple of things left I need to get for Dustin and myself ( I have to play Santa EVERY year) but I think I am about done. And I even have alot of the baking grocery shopping done. Not to brag...but I am pretty proud of my usual disorganized and procrastinating self!

I am also trying to get ahead on a few projects that I'm working on for Christmas and just in general. I will post pics when I am done so I wouldn't hold your breath! LOL! I am working on corduroy blankets for the kids. I have 1 down...2 to go and Gracie's I've decided to go completely creative and I'm a little worried to tackle it so I am hiding this fear behind some other thins I'm working on. Like the cutest bow holder EVER! Not kidding. Seriously. One of my favorite projects I have ever done. Made one for my niece and in the process of making one for Gracie. SOOOO CUTE! I often feel a little guilty that I make all these fun things for Gracie and I don't make anything for my boys. I am working on my crocheting , but really, its not so good, so maybe one day I'll make up for it. But its hard to make things for boys. I am really good at toilet paper horn and telescopes though!

Gracie had to go to the dentist, AGAIN! Seriously tired of that place. She had a cavity on her molar and a tooth coming up behind, so the dentist had to pull the baby one. And then she said "While we are at it, we'll pull the top one since its gonna go pretty soon." Good thing that other one is coming or she would have a really bad lisp going on. She does sound a little funny...but its cute and I can't believe she's lost 6 teeth already...crazy.

Brody has just about taken permanent residence on my bedroom floor. Every night he comes in and I make him sleep on a blanket in the corner. Yes. I know. I am an awful mother. But, I cannot sleep with the kids in my bed. Even with a king. Tried it, doesn't work. So if they want to sleep in there, they sleep on the floor. But it has gotten to the point where he is there EVERY morning when we wake up, so I've told him that if he wants to sleep on the top bunk (to which we have no mattress yet) he has to start sleeping in his own bed. Everyone has their own rooms and their own beds, so he needs to sleep there. And it has actually worked not to bad. The first night he came to me like 4 times but the last two nights he has stayed in bed. And last night, he came to me and I just told him to go back to bed, and he did! Bonus! So hopefully he'll get back into the habit of sleeping in his bed and then we'll get him a mattress for the top bunk.

Cooper is just cute. Plain and simple. He does have to do everything that Gracie and Brody do. For instance. Brody went into his room, comes out with a car and proceeds to drive it around the house on the walls. And 2 minutes later, here comes Cooper, with his car upside down, doing the same thing. Its so funny. And he loves to dance! Oh he loves to dance! He can't talk, but he will come up to you and babble away pointing at the DVD player or computer (where we play music) and then start to dance ad if you ask him if he wants to dance he gets all excited and babbles some more! And he can really boogie. I'm gonna have to get it on video because its pretty funny to watch him dance. He really likes 'I like to move it' from Madagascar 2. He's just a little Big person, at least he thinks he is. And he keeps us laughing with his antics.

Dustin just been busy at work. He's taking the kids to the hockey game tonight and they were pretty excited to get to go with just Dad. I am so grateful for my husband for the fact that he is such a great Father. He loves our children and even babysat them all day yesterday so I could go out and shop by myself. I love that man.

So that's what's news....almost thanksgiving for my American friends...almost December for my Canadian friends....I get to put up my tree in 7 days!

Mom and Dad come to visit!

So my crazy parents came down for another weekend in Cali...I say crazy but I am so grateful to them for taking the time to jet set down and visit, even if its only a couple of days. Its still 3 days my children get to have with their Gramma and Grampa and that's better than none. And they enjoyed every minute of it!
We hung out at the house for a couple of days and enjoyed life in general, and then the last day we went to one of the most breath taking places I've been...the Sequoia's.
Its not as shocking as the first time seeing those giants (I'm sure Mom and Dad were blown away!) But still awe inspiring. Seriously...how can anyone question if there is a God out there who loves us, especially when he gives us that gift of beauty to enjoy...and its been standing there for hundreds and thousands of years...how can you question such a thing?

Cooper enjoying the hiking with Daddy
Grampa and Brody decided that this looked like a giant spider crawling over the log!
The kids with Gramma and Grampa
I love the fall colors!
We hardly get any pics of the two of us...I'm trying to change that.
All of us at the General Sherman tree.

My cuties...another gift of beauty from my Heavenly Father!
Cooper and a giant sugar pine cone.
And again the beauty of fall...I never really appreciated it until I moved down here. In southern Alberta the leaves turn yellow and then the wind usually blows them to the ground before you can really enjoy them. Here, they turn yellow, red, orange, purple, scarlet, brown...every fall color and all on the same tree...it is so amazing to me...I love it! It almost makes fall my favorite season..almost...flowers in the spring still have it beat, but its running a close second!
I am so grateful for the chance my parents had to come and visit us, and grateful for the fact that they love us so much that they will come to see us...just because.
Thanks again Mom and Dad....Love you always...

Halloween week!

So be prepared for picture overload!
So we were SUPER busy this week, crazy, running everywhere! But we had some Halloween and Fall Fun while we were at it!
Cooper discovered some new gloves...
Brody found a new 'mask'...
And we went to the Pumpkin Patch. We had never been before so I was pretty pumped, and the kids had alot of fun picking out their own pumpkins...

Brody checkin' out the produce...
Oh ya...Clint and Monique and Bryce came too!

My cuties in the Patch

Bryce and Coops in the Pumpkin wagon.
This is what happens when the boys are quiet...too quiet...
Then we had a Ward Halloween Party...

The kids had a lot of fun playing the games and going trunk or treating...
And Brody won 'Funniest' costume...can you think why?
Then on Halloween we had a Party and watched Monsters versus Aliens!
Cooper's turn with the 3-d glasses!
And here are our spooky jack o lanterns!
So we had a lot of Halloween fun..the kids didn't go out Trick or Treating, but lets face it, between Disney and The Ward party we have had enough candy to last us forever!
Hope you had Spooktacular Halloween!
